Updates
NextProbe checks for an update when it starts and every four hours while it stays open. If the computer was offline and the last check is more than four hours old, it checks again as soon as the connection comes back. When an update is ready, a line appears across the top of the window: "An update is ready", the new version and the headline of what changed. Install downloads it and restarts the app. Later hides that version until you next start NextProbe, check by hand, or a newer version comes out. What's new opens the rest of the release notes.
To check by hand, open Settings, then About, then Check for updates. On a Mac the same command is in the NextProbe menu. If you installed NextProbe from the Mac App Store, the App Store delivers updates and the bench has no update control of its own.
Very rarely a version has a fault serious enough that we withdraw it. The bench then opens on a page titled "Update NextProbe to carry on" with an Install update button. Your sessions are saved on the computer and are still there after the update.
