Troubleshooting: voice and the pedal
Voice commands and the pedal both need the NextProbe window in front. The rest of the cases are below.
The pedal does nothing
The NextProbe window must be in front. Check which key the pedal sends: open a text editor, press the pedal, and see what it types. Then set that key in Settings → Voice → Change the key. Pedals that don't type a key aren't supported yet.
Voice commands won't turn on
The microphone was refused. On a Mac, open System Settings → Privacy & Security → Microphone, and turn on NextProbe. On Windows, open Settings → Privacy & security → Microphone, and allow desktop apps. Then turn Voice commands on again.
"The microphone needs turning on again"
The system has withdrawn NextProbe's microphone permission. Press Turn on the microphone in Settings → Voice, or hold the push-to-talk key, and allow it when the system asks.
The speech model won't download
The bench needs a connection the first time. Check the connection and turn Voice commands on again.
It hears the wrong thing
Check Settings → Voice, shows the microphone you expect and a level when you speak. Speak digits for readings ("0.412 volts"). In a loud room, use the pedal tap to capture and type notes instead.
Steps aren't read aloud
Reading aloud is off until you turn it on with the speaker button in the voice bar. Muting the beeps (M) doesn't affect it.
