Steps read aloud and the beeps
NextProbe can read each step aloud, and every reading has a sound to go with it.
Steps read aloud
NextProbe can read each step aloud with your computer's own voice, units spelt out ("0.412 volts", "1.2 kilohms") and part and net names spelt letter by letter. It is off until you turn it on with the speaker button in the voice bar on the session screen, or with Read each step aloud in Settings → Voice. Settings also sets the pace. A new step, a key press or holding the pedal cuts the voice off mid-sentence.
When a reading comes in as Check or Fault, the verdict and its reason are spoken too.
The beeps
| Sound | Means |
|---|---|
| Two bright beeps | The reading is saved. Lift the probes. |
| The verdict tone | In range, Check or Fault, each with its own tone. |
| The continuity tone | Under 50 Ω on a continuity or resistance step. |
Every sound has something on screen to match: the reading outlined and its badge flashing, the Continuity badge. Nothing is lost with the sound off.
M on the session screen mutes and unmutes the beeps, and Settings → General has the same switch and the volume (Quiet, Normal, Loud). The bench remembers both. Muting the beeps leaves the spoken steps alone; the speaker button controls those.
