The foot pedal
With both hands on the probes, the foot pedal and your voice run the session. The pedal works from the start with no setup. Voice commands need a microphone and a one-time download of the speech model. The speech is recognised on your computer, and nothing you say is sent anywhere.
The foot pedal
Most foot pedals type a key when pressed. NextProbe listens for V by default, so a pedal that sends V works out of the box, and so does the V key itself.
- A tap (under a quarter of a second) takes the reading, the same as Space or Capture. This works whether voice commands are on or off.
- A hold talks, when voice commands are on: keep the pedal down while you speak, and let go when you are done.
To use a pedal that sends another key, open Settings → Voice, press Change the key, and press the pedal. A pedal set to send F13 never clashes with typing. If you would rather every press talks, set Pedal tap to Always talks.
Pedals that don't send a key press (such as the Infinity IN-USB-2 or the Stream Deck Pedal) can't be used yet.
